Dumb Dog Special 1 - Perforated Deer Skins

Color: Available in Black, Dove Grey, Champagne, and Sahara
Type: Deer
Cut: Skin
Sold By: Skin
Average Size: 8-10sqft
Thickness: approximately 3oz (1.2mm)
Hand: Soft

Available in Black, Dove Grey, Champagne, and Sahara Perforated Deer skins. $6.90 cts per SKIN!!! You read correctly….. it’s per skin! They run in the 8-10 ft range, and are about 3 oz. they have a pigmented finish, much like what you might see in the center of an automobile seat. I don’t know what the leather was intended for in the first place, but it would be good for handbag lining, or trim, or whatever else you can dream up. And for the price, you should be able to dream up something!!! It’s pretty good leather, not perfect, and has a very nice feel. We have a fairly good supply of it at the moment, but as you might imagine, at this price, it won’t last forever.

Not as expected

Very fine perforations and a slightly starched artificial feel - Not a soft hand at all. It doesn't feel like any deerskin I've ever purchased or tanned myself. Disappointing but I'll line desk drawers with it.

Absolutely worth it. Great quality for so insanely affordable.

Maybe the other guy got a dud, but I loved them, especially for the price. Mine were a nice soft texture, but don't feel weak or too stretchy like a lot of perforated leathers. Generous size, even at the crazy cheap price!

Perforated Deere Skins a great purchase.

For the price how could I not pick up a few skins...I am going to be using them for the insides of purses, insides of bible/book covers, outside and inside pockets of a gym type bags, there is so much you can do with these skins that if you are not creative enough and can't figure out how to use them just ask around.

Amazing Versatility & Value

Just as the listing states, these aren’t perfect... but who the heck expects to pay less than $1/sf and get perfect leather?!? At this price point, they’re a phenomenal value. I bought 8 each of Sahara and Dove Gray... the colors are as fantastic as they are versatile! It has a medium hand, and conditions beautifully. There are a few blemishes and thin spots, but they’re at least 90% usable... and overall far nicer and more even than I’d expect at this price point. And in true Springfield fashion, sizing is generous—of the 16 skins purchased, the smallest is a little over 8 ft^2; most are considerably larger. Prototyping a two-tone tote that pairs this with some “outlaw milano antique hazelnut diablo” leather I picked up for a steal over the summer... still in its rough stages, and already starting to knock my socks off! Given the price I’ve purchased materials for, I almost feel guilty about the retail price these bad boys are going to fetch... Almost :)
