Hermann Oak Craftsman Grade Veg Tan 7-8 oz.
This is a mix of medium grade, American tanned sides. There might be a brand on it, or it might have some oxidized areas, or maybe even some off-kilter grain issues. But, while it’s not perfect, it’s pretty darned good. Hugely popular with holster & sheath makers because of its molding & oiling properties. If you're tooling on it... you will be spoiled rotten! This is one of our top selling leathers, and for good reason.
This leather is sold by the square foot. Whatever quantity is chosen at checkout will be the square footage received. Example - order quantity 5, receive a 5 square foot piece.
Since 1861, Hermann Oak has been tanning top-grain leather right here in Missouri. St. Louis-based, the company prides itself on its slow and careful tanning process. A process that produces the finest top-grain stamping and tooling leather in the world. The Hermann Oak name has become synonymous with high quality!

Exactly What I Needed
I ordered 4 square feet of this leather to make a knife and axe sheathe. I was very pleased when the leather arrived as it was cut really well with no wastable areas. There were a few blemishes on the leather but this was expected as it is the craftsman grade. It was perfect for me and my needs for the sheathes I was making. I would definitely order it again if I have any other projects but would recommend the higher quality leather if I was making something like wallets or bags.
Extra nice with very clean back. Perfect for knife sheath.
